The rise in agricultural prices followed increases of 1.4 percent in July and 2.7 percent in June. Higher prices for wheat, meat, and fish all factored into the August increase. Agricultural prices rose 17.6 percent over the past year.

Nonagricultural prices ticked up 0.1 percent in August after a 0.2-percent decline the previous month and advanced 2.4 percent for the year ended in August. Overall exports rose 3.6 percent for the same period.
