Paid by the hour in 2001

About 63 percent of women and 57 percent of men employed in wage and salary jobs were paid by the hour in 2001.

Women who were hourly paid workers had median hourly earnings of $9.57. This was 84.3 percent of the $11.36 median for men paid by the hour.
