Consumer Labeling Initiative
EPA,
the pesticide industry, environmental groups, and state and local governments
started the Consumer
Labeling Initiative to make labels on home and garden pesticide products
and household cleaners easier to read and understand. EPA and its
partners conducted research with consumers to learn how to improve labels
on household pesticide and cleaning products.
For consumers, the key message of the Consumer Labeling Initiative is to "Read the Label FIRST!" A nationwide "Read the Label FIRST!" campaign was launched at the Philadelphia Flower Show on March 6, 2000. Today, trucks broadcast this message across the United States.
