Chicago Transit Authority Announces GovDelivery Launch
From the Tribune: "The Chicago Transit Authority on Tuesday introduced reforms, including e-mail alerts, to keep passengers better informed about routine service changes and, eventually, disruptions caused by equipment breakdowns and emergencies."

From the Sun-Times: "Starting today, CTA riders will be able to sign up for e-mails from the transit agency to let them know about construction and service changes. The service is one of a host of improvements the transit agency is making to customer communications, bringing more information to riders before they leave home, on trains and buses and during emergencies, according to CTA President Ron Huberman."

Email Subscription Service Helps Citizens Stay Informed.
The Email Subscription Service is highly customizable, and offers a range of communication options. The service allows individual pages of the County's web site
to be designated as "watched" pages, meaning that whenever an update is made, a notice can be sent to subscribers who have signed up to receive notifications for that page.

GovDelivery on Federal News Radio
You may get email alerts from an agency - perhaps from USA.gov or the Homeland Security Department? Most of those emails are sent from a contractor. The company is called GovDelivery. Scott Burns is the CEO and co-founder of the company and he has become one of the real thinkers about how government can use Web 2.0.
