Producer Price Indexes through December 2003 have been made final

With the release of data for April 2004 on May 13, 2004, Producer Price Indexes (PPIs) through December 2003 have been made final. It is standard PPI practice to revise data 4 months after initial publication to reflect late reports and corrections by respondents. This includes industry indexes organized using the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system and the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), as well as the traditional PPI commodity classification system.

PPIs organized by NAICS can be found by using the "Industry Data" links under "Get Detailed PPI Statistics" at http://www.bls.gov/ppi/, while those under the discontinued SIC system can be retrieved using the "Industry Data - Discontinued (SIC basis)" links on the same Web page.

Users accustomed to selecting series using their ID codes should use the "PCU" series ID prefix for NAICS data and the "PDU" prefix for the discontinued SIC-based data. (See http://www.bls.gov/help/hlpforma.htm#PC and http://www.bls.gov/help/hlpforma.htm#PD for additional details on series ID formats.)
