Consumer Price Index (CPI) Press Release for September 2008...[pdf]

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is the main measure of what is commonly called inflation. Changes in the CPI are used as an indicator of the changes in the rate of inflation for the economy as a whole. The CPI is a high profile statistics of national and international importance used widely in economic policy decision-making particularly monetary policy. High inflation rates adversely affect not only the economic performance of the country but also increase the consumption expenditure of households. Thus the need to monitor inflation and to produce reliable and accurate CPIs cannot be over-emphasized.

Final Document of the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) in Sierra Leone .....[pdf]

It is the desire of the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) and the international funding agencies that all countries should have in place a National Strategy for the Development of Statistics. This should serve as a foundation on which the National Statistical System can be developed, in line with the development agenda of the GoSL and in particular the government’s Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRSP). The NSDS will also serve as a guide for the implementation of the annual statistics work plan.
