WORKSITE ENFORCEMENT: OPERATION WAGON TRAIN

ICE agents executed civil search warrants on Dec. 12, 2006, at six facilities owned by Swift & Company, one of the nation's largest processors of pork and beef. Agents apprehended 1,297 illegal alien workers on administrative immigration violations. Of those, 274 have also been charged with criminal violations related to identity theft or other violations. The investigation is ongoing.

Countries of origin of those arrested are: Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Peru. Of those taken into custody, 649 have been removed from the United States.
