Does Your Facility Need a Fire Prevention Plan?
This checklist is provided only to identify an
employer's need to develop a fire prevention plan in compliance
with OSHA's Fire Prevention Plan Standard
(29 CFR 1910.39). It DOES NOT alert you to other OSHA
standards that may be associated with your fire prevention plan
or to additional OSHA standards (e.g., other relevant Subpart E standards,
Flammable and Combustible Liquids (1910.106) standard, etc.) that apply to
your facility.

OSHA provides guidance to help employers develop fire
prevention plans. Some of these resources are the
non-mandatory Appendix to Subpart E - Means of Egress, OSHA's
Safety and Health Topics: Fire Safety web page, and
OSHA's Fire Safety Advisor program.
