This 1998 Pilot Assessment accumulated an inventory of shoreline position, coastal topography/bathymetry, land use, sedimentology, geology, storm history, and other variables known to contribute to shoreline change. The map below shows the Maritime (blue) and Great Lakes (pink) coastal states that were to be included in follow-on studies; this pilot project only addressed data compilation in the state of South Carolina (yellow).
