Platte Pipeline Road Closed at Fifteen Mile Creek

Washout on Fifteenmile Road near Worland, Wyoming.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Worland Field Office announced today that the Platte Pipeline Road is closed at Fifteen Mile Creek due to a washout from heavy rains.

The washout was reported by a BLM equipment operator on September 3 and is located approximately three-quarters of a mile south of Fifteenmile Road, and 11 miles north of Gooseberry Road. About 20 feet of rock gabion had been washed away by swift water in the middle of the channel, leaving a large debris pile containing sharp heavy wire.

Barricades and warning signs have been placed at the washout and at the nearest road intersections at Gooseberry Road and Fifteenmile Road. Repairs are expected to be completed by October 1, at which time the road will reopen.

The Platte Pipeline Road receives heavy use by pipeline personnel, ranchers, wild horse enthusiasts and rock hounds.
