Road and Trails Reopen in Rattlesnake Mountain Area

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced today that the Rattlesnake Mountain Road, Rattlesnake Mountain Trail and Four Bear Trail have reopened because of reduced fire danger from the Gunbarrel Fire.

"The public should be aware that some areas are still wet and muddy due to recent rain, and people should use caution when traveling in the Rattlesnake Mountain area," noted Cody Field Manager Mike Stewart.

Rattlesnake Mountain Road (BLM 1207) is located south of the gate at the end of Monument Hill Road (also known as County Road 7UH). Four Bear Trail is 17 miles west of Cody and north of Hwy. 14/16/20. The temporary closures facilitated the suppression efforts of the Gunbarrel Fire and ensured public safety.
