Full Title: Diagnosis and Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction

Clinical Focus*

  1. What are accepted definitions of erectile dysfunction (ED)?
  2. What is the prevalence of underlying causes of sexual dysfunction in primary care and referral populations?
  3. What is the yield of measurements of blood levels of testosterone/prolactin/luteinizing hormone (LH)/follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) for treatable causes of ED.
  4. What is the sensitivity of blood tests vs. pituitary imaging for detecting pituitary causes of ED (e.g. prolactinoma)
  5. What is the effectiveness of pharmaceutical treatments for patients with ED, including those with underlying medical disorders (e.g. diabetes, other neuropathy)
  6. What is the evidence of harms of pharmaceutical treatment?
