The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's User Liaison Program (ULP) coordinates and hosts workshops and teleconferences for State and local health officials. These workshops are designed to provide policymakers and other officials at the State and local levels with timely information on emerging and critical health care topics.


Audiotapes from most ULP workshops are available. Tape sets of full workshops may be purchased for $25 per set; tape sets from audio teleconferences are $10 a set; and tapes of workshops held before December 1999 are free. Provide a credit card or purchase order number to cover costs. There is no additional charge for postage. You also may send a check if ordering by mail. In 2004, AHRQ held a series of Web conferences on topics related to surge capacity and health systems preparedness. Surge capacity is a health care system's ability to expand quickly beyond normal services to meet an increased demand for medical care in the event of bioterrorism or other large-scale public health emergencies. The series was designed to provide State, local, and health system decisionmakers with the latest information on research findings, promising practices, and other important information related to surge capacity. Each audiotape workshop is 90 minutes long.

Making Quality Count: Tools, Strategies and Resources

This audio conference series showcases AHRQ tools that can be used to measure and improve the quality of health care services. In the context of the recent reports on health care quality and disparities, these tools can help State and local policymakers, purchasers and providers improve the quality of care for the groups of individuals they serve. Event #1 discusses the National Healthcare Quality Report and National Healthcare Disparities Report as well as AHRQ tools to improve quality.
