MEMORANDUM FOR OFFICES, BOARDS, AND DIVISIONS TRAINING REPRESENTATIVES

SUBJECT:      Department of the Interior Speakers Series

This memorandum and attached information announces the next three seminars in the U.S. Department of the Interior Speakers Series for the Fall 2001. The Department of Justice (DOJ), in partnership with a consortium of Federal agencies led by the Department of the Interior, is sponsoring this Series. DOJ is participating in this series on a pilot basis, and attendees will be asked to submit feedback for evaluation purposes. Please distribute the memo and attached information to your Offices, Boards, and Divisions' employees at the GS-11 level and above.

The fourth seminar in the series, with guest speaker, Gene D. Cohen, MD, PhD, on the topic of his published book, "The Creative Age - Awakening Human Potential in the Second Half of Life," will be held at the Mayflower Hotel, 1127 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on September 6, 2001. There is a separate afternoon forum scheduled on the same day, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. hosted at the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Conference Center, Room 3102, 810 7th Street, NW. Photo identification will be required for entrance to the OJP facility.

There is no-cost for attending the seminars. The deadline for registration is two weeks prior to each scheduled seminar. Eligible participants can register by sending an e-mail to alejandro.m.bartning@usdoj.gov or by phoning Alex Bartning on (202) 616-3619. The seminars will be filled on a first-register, first-attend basis with eight registrants in the morning session, and 20 registrants in the afternoon session. If more than those individuals register in each seminar, there will be a short wait list, in case of last minute cancellations. All confirmed participants will be notified when they are registered, and a printed ticket will be issued, through you, to each confirmed attendee.
