TomchekDirector, Human Resources SUBJECT: DOJ Executive Development Program Series Marcus Buckingham’s "First Break All the Rules," and "Now Discover Your Strengths." This memorandum and attached information announces the continuation of the FY 2003 Department of Justice Executive Development Program Series. The seminar focusing on Marcus Buckingham’s books, "First Break All the Rules," and "Now Discover Your Strengths" will be held on May 19, 2003 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Great Hall at Main DOJ. Please distribute this memo and the attached information to all of your Senior Executive Service members, as well as managers and supervisors at the GS-14/15 levels. The presenter, Ken Tucker, is a Seminar Leader and Managing Consultant with The Gallup Organization. Mr. Tucker translates Gallup research discoveries based on the largest study of its kind ever undertaken, more than 80,000 managers in 400 companies reveal revolutionary insights about successful managerial behavior. Mr. Tucker consults on building a strengths-based organization, using inclusiveness to drive long-term business outcomes, and focusing on individual strengths to increase per-person productivity. He encourages clients to think critically about business outcomes, and his aim is to promote positive change on a personal and organizational level. The content of this program will focus on the leadership competencies contained in the Executive Core Qualifications regarding leading people. There is no cost for attending the seminar scheduled on May 19, 2003 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The deadline for registration is May 7, 2003, or until the seminar is full.
