Washington, D.C. 20530 June 13, 2003 MEMORANDUM FOR HEADS OF DEPARTMENT COMPONENTS FROM: Paul R. Corts Assistant Attorney General for Administration SUBJECT: Premium Pay Limitations for Employees Performing Emergency Work Under my delegated authority to make determinations under 5 CFR 550.106, I have determined that the deployment of personnel to the Mideast in connection with the RIYADHBOMB investigation constitutes an emergency posing a direct threat to life and property. Therefore, effective June 1, 2003, (the first day of the applicable pay period), employees performing work in connection with the emergency who would otherwise be subject to a biweekly limit on basic pay plus premium pay equal to the rate of basic pay for GS-15, step 10 (or the rate of pay for Level V of the Executive Schedule, whichever is greater), will instead be subject to a GS-15, step 10, annual limit (or the rate of pay for Level V of the Executive Schedule, whichever is greater). These limits include locality pay and special salary rates. You will be notified when this authority ends. Please note that the law does not provide an annual limit for law enforcement availability pay or annual premium pay for administratively uncontrollable overtime work (AUO pay). If members of your staff have any questions, they may call Jamie Higgins of the Personnel Staff on (202) 514-5781. cc: Terry Cook, JMD HRSAG |
