MEMORANDUM FOR BUREAU HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICERS

Due to the devastating storm of Hurricane Katrina last year in the southern region of the United States, employees of one of the largest Federal Government agency, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) continues to be affected. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is soliciting leave donations for USDA. Individual employees of other agencies may voluntarily donate their annual leave to their fellow employees in USDA. This will reduce or alleviate the financial hardship that has incurred because of insufficient leave.

Employees within your component who would like to make a donation should submit the OPM 1638 and forward the complete form to the servicing personnel office's leave sharing program coordinator. In turn, the leave sharing coordinator should forward the attached completed OPM 1638 http://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm1638.pdf to Rachel Villare, of my Human Resources Policy staff, via fax number (202) 616-9722 or via e-mail at Rachel.Villare@usdoj.gov. Ms. Villare can be reached on (202) 616-3707. Employees should contact their servicing personnel office's leave sharing program coordinator if they have any questions.
