MEMORANDUM FOR OFFICES, BOARDS AND DIVISIONS’ TRAINING REPRESENTATIVES

SUBJECT:      FY 2003 Career, Balance and Diversity Series: Author Diane McWhorter

This memorandum announces the first program in the 2003 Career, Balance and Diversity (CBD) Series. This event features author Diane McWhorter discussing her book, "Carry Me Home" which is her study of life, events and justice in Birmingham, Alabama before, during and after the 1963 church bombing.

Office, Boards, and Divisions’ (OBD) employees at the GS-11 level and above can register for the presentation which will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on February 13, 2003 at the American Institute of Architects Building located at 1735 New York Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. There is no cost to attend this event.

The Department of Justice (DOJ), in partnership with a consortium of Federal agencies led by the Department of the Interior, is sponsoring this forum and will offer several other programs throughout the year. DOJ is participating in this series for the third consecutive year, and attendees will be asked to submit feedback for evaluation purposes.

To register, OBD employees can send an email, copied to their immediate supervisor for approval, to charles.m.howell@usdoj.gov by February 7, 2003. The 15 seats for this seminar will be filled on a first-register, first-attend basis. All confirmed participants will be notified by email.
