First documented occurrence

San Francisco Bay, California. Collected from docks by the first Rapid Assessment Survey for exotic species, October 3, 1993; sponsored by San Francisco Estuary Institute (SFEI) and suppored by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey, and California Academy of Sciences. Source: A.N. Cohen (SFEI). Identified by G. Lambert (UW).

Additional documented occurrence

Elkhorn Slough (off Monterey Bay) at Moss Landing, California. Collected by Laura Bedinger, April 30, 1998. California Academy of Sciences specimen no. 144184 (Wasson, K., and others, 2001). Originally identified as Didemnum carnulentum, a native species that somewhat resembles D. sp. Source: G. Lambert.
