Grant Number: R24 HS14022-01A1
Project Description: The project will develop a productive health services research program at Charles Drew University that contributes to the elimination of health disparities in vulnerable communities by establishing a nationally recognized Healthcare Systems Research (HSR) center. Activities focus on building a team of HSR investigators at Drew; expanding ongoing collaborations with nationally recognized HSR programs at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and RAND, and the completion of three small individual research projects planned to develop faculty. These research projects are:

- Racial and ethnic trends in the preventable, non-discretionary utilization of health care resources; the role of community health resources and neighborhood context.
- Health literacy augmentation in minority populations.
