Other Energy Resources

The Energy Resources Program investigates geologic, technologic, environmental, and economic factors controlling the production and use of unconventional fuels such as gas hydrates, coalbed methane, oil shale, heavy oil and natural Bitumen, and tar sands.

Research on Natural Gas Hydrates
Gas hydrates are ice-like crystal structures that trap natural gas in sediment under conditions of high pressure and low temperature such as found on the seafloor or in permafrost.
