Mark your calendars for next year's Symposium & Workshop scheduled for December 1-3, 2009 in Washington, D.C. The event will again be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.

The Call for Poster Abstracts will be available in late May, 2009, with the due date for all poster abstracts no later than July 31, 2009.

Symposium Registration will open in July. As information about this event becomes available, it will be posted on this site.

This year's event set a new record of just over 1,100 registered attendees! The final attendee list, including on-site registrants, has been e-mailed to all attendees.

Symposium Program Guide available! In light of the November 19 DoD-wide directive that banned the use of removable media on government equipment, the memory sticks containing the Program Guide are problematic for some. To allow everyone access to the entire Program Guide, it has been uploaded for your convenience. This conference assembled this nation’s best environmental researchers and technology developers with the defense user and regulatory communities to showcase cutting edge environmental technologies and ideas, as well as communicate the most difficult challenges of our defense establishment. Through this process, SERDP and ESTCP strive to provide a forum for users in the field to examine these technologies that may offer solutions to the most pressing problems.

SYMPOSIUM HIGHLIGHTS

PLENARY SESSION AND PROJECT-OF-THE-YEAR AWARDS

The opening Plenary Session program Tuesday featured our distinguished Plenary Session speakers. Ms. Sherri W. Goodman is General Counsel at CNA, a nonprofit analysis and solutions organization for the Department of Defense and other public sector leaders. Mr. Amory B. Lovins, a MacArthur Fellow and consultant physicist, has advised the energy and other industries for more than three decades as well as the U.S. Departments of Energy and Defense. Col. Cynthia A. Murphy is currently the Commander of the U.S. Army Garrison—Fort Lewis, Washington. SERDP and ESTCP Principal Investigators who have helped DoD achieve its mission while improving its environmental performance also were honored during the Plenary Session as the annual SERDP and ESTCP Project-of-the-Year Awards were announced. TECHNICAL SESSIONS AND SHORT COURSES

undefinedNew this year, the Symposium & Workshop was expanded to a full three-day format that offered a more comprehensive technical program featuring 13 technical sessions and five short courses. Technical sessions highlighted research and innovative technologies that are assisting DoD to address increasingly complex environmental challenges. In addition, short courses on select technologies in the environmental restoration and munitions management focus areas offered unique training opportunities on recent advancements. Presentations are now available under the Agenda tab at the top of the page.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
