Education

Experience

Art began his career as a geologist at the Climax Molybdenum mine in Colorado, and worked on the magnetite deposits of El Romeral, Chile for a Ph.D. at Stanford University. As a minerals-exploration geologist, he worked for several mining companies, exploring for molybdenum and gold deposits in the western United States and Saudi Arabia.

Current Activities

  • Completing a tectono-stratigraphic GIS database for the Northern Rocky Mountain region.
  • Finalizing research on ore deposits and ore-forming processes in the Idaho cobalt belt.
  • Writing summaries of geology and resources of significant mineral deposits in Idaho.
  • Beginning a mineral resource assessment for porphyry copper deposits in British Columbia and Yukon for the Global Mineral Resource Assessment Project.
