India (Taken Question)

Question: Provide details of Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon's meetings with Department officials this week. Who is he meeting with, what is the agenda?

Answer: Foreign Secretary Menon has meetings at the U.S. Department of State on April 30 and May 1. Foreign Secretary Menon is scheduled to meet with Secretary Rice, Under Secretary Burns, and Under Secretary Dobriansky. The agenda covers a range of bilateral and regional interests, with a special focus on the 123 Agreement to govern bilateral civil nuclear trade.

The Foreign Secretary participated in the fifth Global Issues Forum with Under Secretary Dobriansky and other high-level State Department officials. Topics discussed during the Global Issues Forum included democracy and human rights; multilateral humanitarian cooperation; global and regional refugee issues; trafficking in persons; and environmental, scientific, and health issues.
