The Center has a long history of cooperation with educational institutions such as Universities of Michigan, Wisconsin, Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University, and Ohio State University. Its headquarters is located on the North Campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Staff members frequently serve as adjunct advisors to university students, and students use Center space for cooperative research to earn undergraduate and graduate credit. The Center has a work study agreement with the University of Michigan and a cooperative agreement with Michigan State University. In addition the Center has ties with Lake Superior State University; Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin; Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio.
