>> 2008 Ryan White Grantee Meeting Evaluation Report

Planning is underway for the 2008 Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Meeting, August 25-28, 2008 in Washington, DC. This meeting is being co-sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM). Once again, two meetings will occur simultaneously the Grantee Meeting and the 11th Annual Clinical Update. Clinical Update Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits will be sponsored by the International AIDS Society-USA (IAS-USA). This year's theme "New Era, New Act" reflects a focus on implementing the 2006 Ryan White legislation as well as our evolving quest to seek ever better ways to deliver HIV care to the underserved. We make a difference for over half a million people each year and owe much of our success to our creativity and adaptability to change.

That same energy is what makes this conference unique. We meet to learn from each other. But we do so only after working together to plan and prepare during the earlier part of 2008 as we craft a major technical assistance and training forum for the sharing and learning of concrete ideas and techniques to enhance HIV care for people living with HIV.

Overview of the Meeting

We anticipate over 2,400 participants. Because of space constraints, we must limit the number of invited participants by Part and Program. The Letter of Invitation includes a Grantee Participant List to identify the number of colleagues suggested to attend the conference.
There are four meeting objectives:

  1. Identify strategies to improve systems of care for PLWH.
  2. Increase grantees' knowledge of programmatic and administrative requirements.
  3. Enable grantees to share models of care.
  4. Encourage collaboration and networking among grantees.

There will be over 180 workshops and three plenary sessions featuring national speakers and leaders in the field of HIV/AIDS care. Over 120 poster sessions and an Exhibit Hall are also being planned.

On this website are the details about registering, hotels and travel to the meeting, and exhibiting at the conference. Perhaps most important are instructions for submitting workshop and poster proposals. These sessions are the heart of the meeting, where rich ideas and learning takes place.  Note that we are providing extra support with advance planning and preparation of workshops.
