Bankruptcy Form Preparation Software Companies:

In preparation for our conference call next Tuesday 2:00-3:30 EST (see attached agenda) we have prepared additional information in the attached files on the smart forms standard and preliminary information on the case upload functionality changes planned for CM/ECF 3.1.

Also, we occasionally receive e-mail questions from software vendors through the PACER vendor page, or directly, like the following:

Q. Under CM/ECF 3.0 we are not seeing the Role field on the Party page when doing "Open a Voluntary BK Case". This does not cause me any problem as we always pick the same thing Debtor (db:pty) or Joint Debtor (jdb:pty). Testing at VAW is showing that the Party is _correctly_ assigned the role code by CM/ECF 3. Using the menu item "Open Involuntary" the Party screen still asks the Role code.  Is the Role Code supposed to be missing for voluntary?

A. With Release 3.0, the add party code was modified so the court can configure case opening for an involuntary case to allow one debtor and one or more petitioning creditors to be added.  Since the add party is court configurable, other courts may require the role field on both voluntary and involuntary cases.

We would be pleased to discuss other questions you may have on the call, but it would greatly improve our answers if we get the questions in advance.  Please e-mail any questions you would like discussed on the conference call by replying to this message by close of business Friday.

Thank you.
