Download Data Files
You can search for data files in one of two ways: either by year and/or data file type or by variable category. For information on working with MEPS data files, go to the online workbook and SAS programming examples that have been used in recent workshops conducted by AHRQ.

Option 2: Select by variable category
Select a variable main category

Next step: Once you select a variable main category, you will then be asked to select a variable subcategory.
You can find lists of MEPS-HC variables and the data releases on which they are located in two documents: Person-level variables on Variable locator: full-year, point-in-time, longitudinal, and pooled files (PDF, 845 KB) or HTM format
Event-level variables on Variable locator: medical event files(PDF, 80 KB) or HTM format.
