Tell people about the CDC’s New HIV Incidence Data
CDC recently published national HIV incidence (new infections) estimates using new technology and methodology that more directly measures the number of new HIV infections in the United Sates. The first analyses, published in the August 6, 2008 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, showed an estimated 56,300 new HIV infections occurred in 2006—that’s substantially higher than the previous 40,000 estimated annual new infections. To find resources about the new CDC HIV incidence data and information on subpopulations visit http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/surveillance/incidence.htm
