Chronic Conditions -- General
Description: In the MEPS-HC conditions data are collected for all medical events reported during the reference period. From these codes, chronic conditions can be identified. Selected priority conditions information is also asked separately of the medical events (PC section of the questionnaire). These priority conditions include sore throat, diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, emphysema, joint pain, and arthritis. In addition to the tables and publications below, data files with conditions variables can be downloaded for analysis.
Data tables: The MEPS-HC Conditions Tables contain information on expenditures, persons, and events for all conditions. Specific chronic conditions can be identified in the list of conditions.
Analytic tools: No condition variables are available with the MEPSnet query tools at this time.
