6.1     Associate Director for Policy and Management Improvement.  The Policy and Management Improvement (PMI) Directorate provides analysis, evaluation, and assessment capability to the Director.  The PMI performs policy analyses and special studies to ensure optimum program performance and success of Minerals Management Service (MMS) activities.  It also provides planning, performance measurement, and evaluation capability for improving management practices and processes of the MMS as well as manages the MMS’s appeals activities.  The Associate Director oversees all responsibilities of the Directorate and serves as an advisor to the Director on policy and management issues. (See attached organization chart)

 

6.2     Planning and Management Division.  The Division performs strategic planning, performance measurement, program evaluation, and assessment activities of the MMS.  The Division also performs special studies and analysis and provides leadership, direction, and coordination for improving practices and processes within the MMS.

 

6.3     Policy and Appeals Division.  The Division performs policy analyses and special studies to ensure optimum program performance and success of MMS activities.  It reviews and recommends decisions involving policy and appeals from final orders of program officials.  In this activity, the Division adjudicates administrative appeals so that appellants receive an independent review.  The Division also manages the rule making process at the MMS, ensuring that all administrative and process requirements are met.
