Issue 11526: Learner Invoked Navigation Events Take Precedence

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Details:

In cases where multiple Navigation Events may be triggered, the SCORM is not clearly defined. Navigation Events invoked directly by the learner should override any Navigation Events triggered from within content, via the adl.nav.request data model element. However, if a Post Condition Sequencing Rule is successfully evaluated during the Termination Request Process (during the termination of the Current Activity), then the Post Condition Rule navigation event should take precedence over both learner and LMS triggered Navigation Events.

The SCORM Sequencing and Navigation Book will be updated to clarify run-time behavior related to source precedence for processing Navigation Events.

Affected Products:
SCORM 2004 3rd Edition Sequencing and Navigation

Status: Pending

Resolution: To be resolved in the SCORM 2004 4th Edition Sequencing and Navigation Version 1.0

Work Around: Assume that learner invoked Navigation Events take precedence over SCO invoked Navigation Events, and that Sequencing Post Condition processing takes precedence over learner invoked Navigation Events
Last Revised: 09/02/2008
