Introduction to the EERT

The United States Geological Survey (USGS), Eastern Energy Resources Team (EERT) addresses national and global energy geoscience issues and conducts interdisciplinary research on energy systems. The Team provides earth-science information and interpretations essential to building a framework for the identification and assessment of economically stable and environmentally sound resources of petroleum, natural gas, and coal.

The USGS is a bureau within the United States Department of the Interior (DOI). The Eastern Energy Resources Team, one of three Energy Teams, conducts scientific investigations to support the Energy Resources Program at the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, Virginia.
