How do I...?


Certify that I am 8(a) Contact the local SBA district office serving your area. An SBA representative will answer general questions over the telephone. Some district offices may also have 8(a) orientation workshops to provide additional information regarding the eligibility requirements and to review various SBA forms. To locate the closest SBA District Office go to www.sba.gov or call 1-800-U-ASK-SBA. You may also apply for certification on-line.
Add or Change an ARO Contact the Integrated Acquisition Environment (IAE) program office to add or change an ARO.
Do business with the federal government All potential vendors (1) must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) System, then (2) provide representations and certifications via ORCA, and thereafter, (3) are able to bid on opportunities found at FBO. Find an opportunity to win business with the federal government For opportunities over $25,000, go to the FedBizOpps website and click on "Find Business Opportunities." For opportunities under $25,000, contact each agency separately. For more information on small business opportunities in each agency visit Federal OSDBU Director Interagency Council.
Find a CAGE Code Defense Logistics Information Service (DLIS), who administers the CAGE code system, has placed a CAGE code search feature on the Internet.
Obtain a CAGE Code CCR is an authorized source for the assignment of CAGE Codes. CAGE Codes will be assigned automatically to vendors as their CCR registration goes through the validation process or call for assistance at 1-888-227-2423.
Get a copy of a Contract Contact the agency that awarded the contract.
Find a Contract Go to the Federal Data Procurement System (FPDS) website and use the Search function.
Obtain a DUNS Number The Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number is a unique nine character identification number provided by the commercial company Dun & Bradstreet (D&B). If you need a DUNS number for federal registration in CCR, go to the website or call D&B at 866-705-5711.
Get a Grant Go to Grants.gov website.
Certify that I am HUBZone To qualify for the program, a business must meet the following criteria:
  1. It must be a small business by SBA size standards;
  2. Its principal office must be located within a HUBZone, which includes lands on federally recognized Indian reservations;
  3. It must be owned and controlled by one or more U.S. citizens.
  4. At least 35% of its employees must reside in a HUBZone.

Obtain an MPIN Marketing Partner ID (MPIN) is a personal code that allows you to access other government applications such as the Past Performance Information Retrieval System (PPIRS), FedTeDS, ORCA, and grants.gov.
Change my NAICS Code Companies select their own NAICS code when they register in CCR. Agencies select NAICS codes for solicitiations and contracts.
Find the current NAICS Codes Click NAICS at the Census website for on-line keyword search or FAQS.
Register in ORCA OnLine Representations and Certifications can be provided online after a firm is registered in CCR. ORCA data is requested before offers can be made on solicitations.
Register my commercial business for federal government work Go to the Central Contract Registration (CCR) website and click on "Start New Registration" or "Update or Renew Registrations using TPIN."

Obtain Small Business Assistance Click on "Business Opportunities" at the Small Business Administration website.
Obtain an TPIN Trading Partner Identification Number (TPIN). The TPIN is your confidential password to change your Central Contractor Registration (CCR) information. Receipt of your TPIN not only confirms that you are successfully registered in CCR, it is required to make or request any changes or updates to your active registration.

Obtain Veterans Assistance Click on "Business Opportunities" at the Veterans Administration website.
