Expertise: wildlife disease ecology, ungulates, epidemiological modeling

Research Interests: I enjoy working on large interdisciplinary and collaborative projects that address both basic and applied questions surrounding the management and conservation of wildlife. My current research is focused on several wildlife disease issues around the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem including brucellosis and chronic wasting disease. By combining field data with quantitative methods such as mathematical modeling and statistical analysis, I aim to develop a better understanding of the observed patterns and assist in the design of effective management strategies.

My past research was on bovine tuberculosis in the African buffalo of the Kruger National Park. My collaborators and I assessed the effects of this disease as well as potential control options, while also investigating more general questions about how host social structure affects the invasion and persistence of different parasites.
