As part of the Office of System Accountability and Research and to support the DoDEA Community Strategic Plan, the Research and Evaluation Branch will enhance student learning by furnishing information for sound educational decisions through program evaluation, research, and technical assistance.
To accomplish its mission, the Research & Evaluation Branch provides:
- Program Evaluation: Formal evaluations of DoDEA programs to include needs assessments and formative and summative evaluations.
- Technical Assistance: Specialized support for instrument construction and the processing, analysis, and interpretation of data; and using results of research and evaluation to improve student learning.

- American Educational Research Association (AERA) is concerned with improving the educational process by encouraging scholarly inquiry related to education and by promoting the dissemination and practical application of research results.
- The Education Commission of the States (ECS) is a national nonprofit organization that helps state leaders improve education for all young people. The ECS on-line service offers information about what's going on throughout the country on a host of current hot issues in education, such as school-to-work policies and programs, various efforts to improve student achievement, school governance, charter schools, school finance and a number of topics related to the cost and quality of higher education.
