UAV (Unmanned Airborne Vehicle) Workshop

UAV Workshop Postponed

In light of logistics issues, budget and travel constraints, high airline costs, and a conflict with a DOD workshop, the USGS UAV Workshop, scheduled for 20-22 May 2008 at the EROS Data Center (EDC) in Sioux falls, SD, the organizing committee has decided to postpone the event until November of 2008. This workshop was the second in a series (first one in December 2006 in Lafayette, LA) to be hosted by the USGS. The committee is coordinating this event with the Pecora Conference in Denver, Colorado for November 21st. This will allow a greater participation from the community and provide a more central access location for those making travel arrangements. The committee is looking at the delay as allowing us to organize a better event, with the inclusion of both public and private UAV providers showcasing their products in a static display area.

We apologize for any unnecessary burden this may make in peoples travel plans but, in light of these issues, the organizing committee felt it to be in the best interest of all involved to postpone the UAV Workshop until fall 2008 to better accommodate logistics and availability of participants, presenters, and vendors. We will provide more detailed information in the coming weeks and sufficient lead-time for all to plan their participation in Denver in November.

We look forward to seeing you in Denver in November!!

PredatorThe UAV (Unmanned Airborne Vehicle) Workshop provides a forum for assessing the opportunities available for using UAV platforms in response to natural and man-made disaster events. Policy makers, operators, and responders will address the capabilities, functionalities, and uses of the UAV, as well as users' responsibilities.

The 3-day UAV workshop agenda includes selected presentations, panel sessions, and exhibits/displays. Day 3 of the Workshop is optional and will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the operations and research programs at USGS EROS, including a tour of the facility. The $45 Workshop fee, payable on site, will cover the cost of breaks and lunches, with no additional cost for the optional third day.

Pre-registration is required for security reasons, You will need a valid government issued photo ID to enter the USGS EROS facility. Please refer to the registration form.
