For white males, the number of homicide victims began at 467 in 1976 and fluctuates with a low of 452 as it increases to 528 in 1981. Then the number dropped to a low of 174 in 2001. Then it fluctuates with a high of 195 as it increases to 183 in 2005.

For white females, the number of homicide victims began at 840 in 1976 and fluctuates with a low of 821 as it increases to 1,002 in 1985. After 1985, the number decreased, reaching 749 in 1997. After 1997, it fluctuates with a high of 862 as it increases to 789 in 2005.

For black males, the number of homicide victims began at 820 in 1976 and dropped to a low of 138 in 2004, where it remained constant until 2005.

For black females, the number of homicide victims began at 709 in 1976 and decreased, reaching a low of 316 in 2004. The number then increased to 337 in 2005.

For other race males, the number of homicide victims began at 11 in 1976 and fluctuates with a low of 5 as it increases to 18 in 1981. Then the number decreased to 5 in 1986. Then it fluctuates with a high of 16 as it increases to 7 in 2005.

For other race females, the number of homicide victims began at 20 in 1976 and fell to 13 in 1979. Then the number increased to a high of 57 in 1999. It then fluctuates with a low of 33 as it decreases to 44 in 2005.
