Handley supervises the acquisition of aerial photography, the photointerpretation of wetland and upland habitats for present and historical time periods, and the cartographic representation of the photointerpretation on base maps. Other projects focus on the determination of mapping and photointerpretation accuracy, the use of GPS in base map development, the comparison of PC-based GIS software packages, seagrass photointerpretation and mapping, the use of aerial video in mapping, and introducing wetland mapping and GIS to secondary school educators via workshops.
