Photographs of Hayden Valley, Yellowstone National Park

The broad open spaces of Hayden Valley are nestled between rhyolite lava flows of the Central Plateau to the west and the uplifted Sour Creek dome to the east. The valley floor preserves deposits of lakes formed by the meltwaters of retreating glaciers.
