Abstract : The U.S. Forest Service in Alaska, through an interagency agreement, requested that hydraulic rating curves be obtained for an A-40 Alaska Steeppass fishway. The curves will be used for layout and design of similar fishways in Alaska and elsewhere in the USA, where feasible. The study plan was amended to include fish passage efficiency evaluation at various hydraulic conditions. This warranted keeping the project active for several migratory seasons to get adequate samples of migratory fish for the data base. In addition, the US Fish & Wildlife Service also requested hydraulic rating curves for simple Denil fishways. USFWS will also benefit from the Steeppass hydraulic rating curves.
