Abstract: The OSHA CD-ROM is a two disk set that contains
electronic copy of text and graphics of Agency Regulations (Standards),
Publications, Agency Documents, and Technical Information copied from the OSHA
Web Site on a quarterly basis. Specific OSHA information on the CD-ROM include:
OSHA Act of 1970 with revisions; all related Title 29 CFR Regulations with
changes; Federal Register Notices;Manuals;Agency Letters responding to
questions on OSHA Regulations;Directives;Expert Advisors;Electronic Compliance
Assistance Tools;many Agency Publications;Technical Bulletins;Technical
Information on specific Hazards and specific Industries;Speeches and
Congressional Testimony by Agency Administrators;Complaint and Recordkeeping
Forms;Training Resources;and information on Agency Programs, including the
Voluntary Protection Program and Partnership Program. The OSHA CD-ROM is
updated quarterly by OSHA and is made available to the public through the
Government Printing Office as a subscription or single issue. the OSHA CD-ROM
can be used on a PC or laptop without connection to the Internet, but does use
a Web browser(one already on the user's PC, or the one included on the CD), to
search and access the information. All information is indexed and fully text
searchable. For those users with an Internet connection, the CD contains links
to additonal material on the OSHA Web Site. The second of the two disks
contains large files, including PDF, PowerPoint and video formatted files.
Large files are typically slow to download from the Internet. All OSHA CD-ROM
information and material can also be accessed on the OSHA Web Site. The OSHA
Web Site includes more extensive information than is available on the OSHA
CD-ROM set. The OSHA web site provides access to over 2 million records of
inspection history. See http://www.osha.gov.
Purpose: The intent of the OSHA CD-ROM is to provide a tool
for agency staff to use at remote work sites. It is further intended to provide
the public access to an extensive collection of OSHA information, at a
reasonable cost. Agency Program: The OSHA CD-ROM is used to
assist OSHA staff, employers, employees, non-profit organizations, other
federal, state, and local government agencies, and the global community in
reducing illnesses and injuries in the workplace.
