Abstract: The Drug-Free Workplace Advisor is an interactive Web site that helps employers create substance abuse prevention programs that promote safe and healthy workplaces. The Advisor also helps Federal contractors and grantees learn about the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and which of its requirements, if any, apply to them. This site is one of a series of several online Advisors, known as elaws (Employment Laws Assistance for Workers and Small Businesses), which provide compliance assistance information about laws administered by DOL and other Federal agencies.

Purpose: Because substance abuse has a negative impact on workplace safety, health and productivity, the Drug-Free Workplace Advisor is intended to raise awareness of the problem of workplace substance abuse and help even the smallest work organization develop an effective substance abuse prevention program. The Advisor also helps Federal contractors and grantees comply with the Federally mandated Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.

Agency Program: The Drug-Free Workplace Advisor helps small business employers have safe, healthy and drug-free workplaces and comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
