Abstract: The Assessments MIS system contains data relative to the
monetary penalties assessed to the mine operators. Under MSHA jurisdiction
following the citing of a violation of a provision of 30CFR Parts 1-199 or The
Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977. Contains Coal and Metal Nonmetal
Mine assessment information. Purpose: The data in the
Assessments MIS system provides information useful in determining the
effectiveness and state of ongoing activities of the Assessments Program and
the state of payment of the civil penalties assessed to mine operators.

Agency Program: MSHA was charged with the responsibility of
protecting the nations miners under the Federal Mine Safety and Health
