Physiographic Regions
A map is a way of displaying geographical information. Boundaries help us to break large areas into smaller regions. Think about different ways of defining boundaries. Political boundaries- borders of countries, states, cities- are just one way of referring to specific areas. Earth scientists have defined their own boundaries, called physiographic regions, based upon geology and topography. How might a biologist define boundaries? What about a sociologist? An ecologist? How would you define boundaries?
