Abstract: This process provides redress for preference eligibles who believe their preference rights in hiring or reduction in force in the Federal government have been violated. Technical assistance is provided to assist veterans in determining preference eligibility and the process to be followed if they desire to file a complaint against a Federal agency. Complaints are investigated and if it is determined, by a preponderance of the evidence, that a violation occurred, every resonable effort will be made to ensure that the agency specified in the complaint complies with applicable provision of statute or regulation relating to veterans’ preference.

Purpose: To assist preference eligibies who believe their veterans preference rights have been violated. To obtain resolution of the complaint and obtain compliance with applicable statutes and regulations.

Agency Program: In accordance with the Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998, Public Law 105-339, Section 3, 4, and 5, provide assistance to preference eligibles.
