Abstract: The M/NM MIS system contains data about Mines under the
jurisdiction of M/NM. It also contains data relative to the inspection and
investigation activities of M/NM. Health sampling conducted at those mines, and
violations issued to the mines under the jurisdiction of M/NM are also
reported.
Purpose: The data in the M/NM MIS system provides
information useful in determining the effectiveness and state of ongoing
activities of the M/NM Program. Data entered is used to assist in safety
programs and accident reduction efforts.
Agency Program: MSHA
was charged with the responsibility of protecting the nation’s miners
under the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977, Public Law 91-173 as
amended by Public Law 95-164.
