Central African Republic: Call For Restoration Of Order And Reconciliation The United States condemns the attack and seizure of power that took place on March 15 in the Central African Republic.
We call for the restoration of order in Bangui and throughout the country, and for an end to widespread pillaging that has been reported. We urge the authorities to ensure the safety of all those in the Central African Republic, including the foreign population. We ask the authorities to create the conditions for humanitarian organizations to function fully in all parts of the Central African Republic in order to bring relief to the suffering population. We are reviewing the provisions of U.S. law that apply under such circumstances with regard to assistance.
Finally, we call on the authorities to take immediate steps to begin a process of national reconciliation that will help lead to a democratic government in the Central African Republic.
