Sudan: Travel Of Special Envoy For Peace Danforth

Question: What information do you have on Senator Danforth’s travel to Sudan?

Answer: Special Envoy for Peace in Sudan, Senator John Danforth is in Sudan. The purpose of his trip is to consult with parties involved in pursuing peace.

Senator Danforth’s first stop was Khartoum where he met with Sudanese government officials and religious leaders. Tomorrow, November 15, he will travel to Southern Sudan where he will observe the World Food Program / USAID food drops and humanitarian relief efforts. He will also meet religious, local and opposition leaders.

November 17-18, he will travel to Nairobi and Cairo for consultations before returning to the United States.
