Kansas Embraces "Opportunity" of No Child Left Behind
On Friday, Kansas became the eighth state to have its No Child Left Behind accountability plan approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
Here's what Kansas Commissioner of Education Andy Tompkins had to say, as quoted in The Topeka Capital-Journal:
"'Kansas has embraced the values expressed in the No Child Left Behind legislation for many years,' Tompkins said. 'It's been more than a decade since our state implemented a standards-based accountability system and began accrediting schools based on student performance.
